Chrome Browser: Update
Updating Google Chrome
Normally Chrome updates happen in the background when you close and reopen your computer's browser, but if you haven't closed your browser in a while, you might find a pending update. To determine if your browser needs an update, follow the steps below.
- At the top right of your browser click the ellipsis (3 dots in a vertical column) to open the browser menu.
- Click Settings on the menu that opens.
- Click About Chrome on the bottom of the navigation menu, on the left side of the screen that opens.
- If an update is pending, you'll find:
- Relaunch to update
- Finish update
- New Chrome available
- On the following screen, if your browser is up to date, it should indicate that in the area circled in red in the image below. If it isn’t up to date, it should start updating automatically. (If your browser doesn’t start updating automatically, click Google Chrome OS Settings and, on the following screen, click the Check for updates button.)
- If an update is pending, click the Relaunch button (which will reopen any tabs that you currently have open) or close the browser and then reopen it.
