Outlook: Reporting Phishing Attempts

Phishing is the practice of sending fraudulent communications that appear to come from a legitimate and reputable source, usually through email and text messaging. The attacker's goal is to steal money, gain access to sensitive data and login information, or to install malware on the victim's device. If you receive an email that you suspect to be a phishing attempt, please mark the message as phishing by the email as phishing, by using the Phish Alert button in Outlook.

Phish Alert Button:

  • If you are using Outlook Web Access (in a web browser), you can find the Phish Alert button in the upper-right corner of the email in Outlook Web Access (see first image, below).
  • If you are using the desktop version of Outlook, you can find the Phish Alert button on the right side of the ribbon under the Home tab (see second image, below).
  • If you are using the mobile (phone) application, you can find the Phish Alert button by clicking the menu button (3 dots) inside the email (see third and fourth images, below).
